Canada’s First PAS Cases [2008]

In November 2008, the biggest recession since 1930 hit Abbotsford. If I had known that the first case of parental alienation had run the year before, I’m not sure it would have made much difference to me. I was unemployed and I felt abused by Canada’s family courts. I no longer saw them as a solution to ANY family problems. All you need to think about is the fact that we are just now adding parental alienation to the DSM-5 six years after the first cases were heard to know Canada’s legal and medical systems have lost their way.

Another Canadian Landmark PAS Case [2013]

A.F. v. J.W., 2013 ONSC 4272 (CanLII)

This case was posted first by the Parental Alienation Awareness Organization (PAAO). But I found it on the Canadian Equal Parenting Council Facebook Group Website re-posted by the Parental Alienation Awareness Network of Alberta (PAAN) on July 16, 2013. Both PAAO and PAAN want to share this very important Ontario Superior Court Decision under Justice R. John Harper rendered June 28, 2013 in a case involving Severe Parental Alienation of a Father (Citation: A.F. vs J.W. 2013 ONSC 4272). Toronto based Lawyer Brian Ludmer acted for the Dad. Brian is often a keynote speaker at PAAO conferences.

The 3 children have been removed from the mother’s custody and can not be with her except in the presence of a registered court appointed therapist. This action has been developing since 2011 and this decision outlines the many steps the court took to allow the mother to stop her PA tactics and relentless derisive treatment of the father and encourage their children to do as well. The mother rejected virtually every attempt to reform her behavior over the next 2 years – and now has been forced into a treatment program. The children have done horrible things to the dad and his new wife (and their pets) without any contrary or balanced criticism to the children by the Mom.

Please read to learn of the Judges attempts to warn and modify the Mothers behaviour towards more positive parenting. Read the entire case here. Or you can read about the case on the Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII) website here.
